Reflections on 21st May
Foundation for every individual
Is it possible to screen young people's resilience?
Yes
- this model is one part of building a foundation as a tool of measurement
- with the help of surveys or questionnaires we can have a right direction
- dividing each area into subcategories which will help us see every aspect of a child as a whole
- as a Prevention - we can detect early whether the child has an ability to cope and what kind of support we should give (regarding Participation)
- we can Promote the child's resilience according to the results of the measurements by giving coping methods and tools to recognize the stressful situations, thus Protecting the child

How is the health care system organized in our countries (Finland (including Åland), Sweden, Lithuania, Estonia)?
Hospitals are divided into central hospitals that belong to the nearest university hospital. In every country has a primary care and a specialized care.
- In Finland it depends where you live, whether you get the help on time or not. We also have regional hospitals - if you live in Hankasalmi you belong to the Äänekoski health care center.
- Åland has a lack of the specialized care with the graver operations and for example the cancer treatments are done in Åbo, Finland or in Uppsala, Sweden. A helicopter (Medi-Heli) can be used in case of emergency.
- In Estonia and also in Lithuania, when you need acute care, you have a problem if you live outside the big cities, where you cannot reach the help as quickly.
- In Sweden, the health care centers deal with the primary care and for the specialized care you need a referral from the health care center. South and Middle of Sweden have the best access to the hospitals, but in North of Sweden there are long distances.
We talked about the long distances between "bigger" hospitals and people's homes. Delivering the child might happen at home, in a car or during the drive to the hospital. It exists infection risks, lack of skills and fear of delivering in a car or not getting medication, etc. What would be a good solution for this, or is there any?
--> Why we sometimes have to change the system?
- To increase the level of life expectancy by enhancing quality, services and the expertise.
